U. S. Energy Programs

Tax incentives and utility rebates are increasingly becoming available from local utilities and governments for implementation of energy conservation, lighting systems, motion sensors, compressed air systems, variable frequency drives for motors and pumps, HVAC controls etc….. In some states, new laws are being passed that will require buildings to use day lighting. In California, Title 24 requires buildings of 25,000 sq ft. or more with a minimum 15 ft. of building height, to light at least 50% of their floor space with day lighting. Our Engineers work closely with your local utility company to help you obtain the maximum rebate available. Contact us for information on utility rebates in your area.

Energy improvements completed thru 2013 are eligible for tax deductions of as much as $1.80 per square foot.

  • You may be eligible for a tax deduction of up to $1.80 per square foot for improving the energy efficiency of your existing commercial buildings.
  • The amount deductible may be as much as $1.80 per square foot of building floor area for buildings that achieve a 50-percent energy savings target. The notice provides that buildings below the 50-percent threshold may, nevertheless, qualify for a deduction of up to 60 cents per square foot of building floor area if they meet a 16 ⅔-percent energy savings target.

Solutions, Inc. will issue a Certificate of Compliance Solutions, Inc. has certified engineers and Operational Excellence Professionals or OpEx on staff.  Once the implementation of energy conservation measures is complete our engineers will prepare a formal EPACT Certificate of Compliance for Commercial Buildings Tax Deduction – Section 179D, Internal Revenue Code. This certification will allow you the full tax deduction as outlined above.

Utility Rebates

The federal economic stimulus programs have filtered down to the state level. These programs are set up to help states fund existing programs and create new jobs.  In order to accomplish this many states are working with local utilities to offer rebates for energy conservation projects. Utility rebates vary from utility to utility, most rebates will cover lighting upgrades, variable frequency drives, compressed air controls, HVAC controls and various other energy conservation measures. Overall Cost Savings (Repair, Maintenance, Energy Usage)

With energy rates at an all time high and approximately 86% of electricity in traditional buildings attributed to lights, fans and cooling, calling one of our energy specialists just makes good sense. But through the right optimizing of your facilities, there are several important ways to save significant dollars through the implementation of efficient energy systems, additional benefits include:

  • Improving the employee work environment with better lighting, reduces eye fatigue and leads to greater productivity
  • Safety! We all know the costs associated with an unsafe work environment. We have testimonials from companies that have shown a 400% improvement in this area since completion of their lighting project.
  • Improved performance, equipment last longer when operated at constant pressure instead of wide swings in pressure, when compressors are constantly modulating they are wasting energy
  • Greater productivity from using our proprietary power quality applications coupled with specially designed synthetic lubricants, help your manufacturing equipment run much cooler, thus more efficient
  • Minimizing down time for repairs
  • Reducing wear and tear on your manufacturing equipment
